Swimming Hole (Tar Creek), November 23, 2001

When I went down to Southern CA for Thanksgiving, I went bouldering at this Ventura County spot with Joe and Laura. It's a deep, beautiful canyon full of boulders and pools of water. When the water is low, like it was this day, the landings for many problems are no longer underwater.

Hiking down into the canyon.

Laura and Joe crossing the stream.

Amy on boulder with a big flake.

Laura on the big flake.

The face in the rock.

Joe slaps for nothing on "Magic Johnson," while the face in the rock watches in the background.

Joe on "Pocket Change."

Joe again.

Pretty cactus thingy.

Amy on the cobble problem. You can see how high the water can be.

Joe and the cobble. This big glossy quartz stone embedded in the sandstone makes a nice foothold.

Laura.
