Indian Creek, Nov. 22-23, 2007

Thanksgiving weekend, Indian Creek was supposed to be spared from the storm that would hit New Mexico, according to the weather forecasts. It would be cold, highs in the 40s-50s, but not snowy.

We arrived at noon on Thanksgiving Day and met Matt and Susan at the Supercrack Buttress, where we climbed about four routes in crisp and chilly weather. We went to bed that night dreaming of the sweet cracks we would climb tomorrow.

Aaron woke me up in the middle of the night to report that it was snowing, and he thoughtfully stowed our gear in the truck while I went back to sleep. We woke the next morning to about 5 inches on the ground, and it was still dumping. We pondered whether to go or stay, and decided that it showed no signs of letting up and drying out by Sunday, so we packed up and went home.

Doug, who brought out 25 pounds of fresh sushi-grade fish for "SushiFest" Friday night. He started making sushi Friday morning as we all milled around wondering if we were going or staying. We had some delicious, delicious marlin sashimi before taking off.

It was my first time seeing Indian Creek under so much snow!
