Marko and I originally intended to go to Mt. Diablo on this particular day, but rain forced us to choose some place with rock other than sandstone. We headed out to Placerville, to the Consumnes River Gorge, chosen because it was the only place with a favorable weather report. We had some trouble finding the place. We wandered around the wrong fork of the Consumnes River for a while, had lunch and saw some beautiful fall colors. Some fishermen told us where the correct gorge was, so we hit the climbing pretty late in the afternoon. The place is really pretty, and has awesome swimming holes, but the climbing is nothing special, at least not on the side of the river we climbed on---the routes were very short. On the other side of the gorge are some longer routes, up to 4 pitches, so we may go back to do one of those. Sorry, but there are no climbing shots on this page---the lighting was bad, and I'm a bad photographer, so the climbing shots didn't come out.
