Owens River Gorge, February 15-18, 2002
This weekend was spent at the Owens River Gorge with Charles, Erin, Marko, and Rod. Saturday was a nice sunny day, Sunday was cold and snowy, and Monday was cold and windy.
Saturday

On Saturday, Charles and I did the first three pitches of the five-pitch climb Towering Inferno. Charles led every pitch beautifully and I followed, not quite as beautifully. Here is Charles (can you find him? He's small) after the very long traverse pitch that traces a half-arc over Eldorado Roof.

Sunday

Despite a promisingly sunny sky Sunday morning, the wind picked up and it began to snow quite a bit. This is Erin getting ready to rappel "Abitarot" as the snow comes down.

Group picture. In roughly rainbow order, we have Charles, Marko, Amy, Erin, and Rod.

After getting snowed out of the gorge, the sky cleared. Not feeling well, I took a nap while my intrepid friends went hiking.

Charles took this picture of Mt. Tom.
