EPS 106 is a mineral resources class, and this was our first field trip. We mapped the Rainbow Tungsten Mine using ultraviolet lights to identify scheelite, which glows bright blue. Then we backpacked into the Dinkey Lakes Wilderness, in the western Sierras, and camped at Second Dinkey Lake. We did a little mapping of quartz in the batholith.
